My Daughter

My Daughter

10 November 2018

The first time I saw you on the screen, the relief and joy after 2 heartbreaking ultrasounds before.  Seeing your dad cry for the first time when he found out you were a girl and the first time I felt you move

Waddesdon Manor - A House for All Seasons

Waddesdon Manor - A House for All Seasons

27 October 2018

The National Trust has many treasures, but in my opinion, Waddesdon Manor is the jewel in it’s crown.  10 minutes from Aylesbury and about an hour from London, Waddesdon Manor is perched on a hill in the Buckinghamshire Countryside.  The property is immense with it’s extensive grounds strewn with modern art, an adventure playground and various shops and cafes.  All this is included in an Annual National Trust Membership.

Operation Daylight - Beating the Autumn Blues

Operation Daylight - Beating the Autumn Blues

26 October 2018

I always think that this time of year is the most challenging for our family.  We love being outside and active so the daylight robbery of well, daylight, hits us hard.  The children have more unspent energy which leads to bickering and challenging behaviour and my husband and I drive to and from work in darkness.  It is easy for the blues to set in.

Summer Holidays - The End

Summer Holidays - The End

29 August 2018

I am now 3 days away from returning to work.  Emails are checked and the work is already piling up, I am strategising how I am going to get everything done in the first week.  I’m excited about getting back into a job I love but my heart aches.

A Day in Lake County, Florida

A Day in Lake County, Florida

13 August 2018

When we think of Central Florida we think about Theme Parks, Attractions, Malls, Restaurants - bright lights and excitement.  For people who long for an escape from the shiny and sleek, the hustle and bustle, there is haven of tranquility, nature and folksy charm just an hour out of Orlando.

The Florida Hotel - a Shopper's Paradise

The Florida Hotel - a Shopper's Paradise

07 August 2018

At first glance the Florida Hotel wouldn’t be your first pick for a family break but the service and kindness shown by staff make it perfect.  Returning from an exhausting theme park day into the welcoming arms of the FH staff makes this hotel great for parents and young children.

Alone in a crowded room - parenting with social anxiety

03 August 2018

Having a baby and parenting can be a lonely process so having great people around to share the experience with is essential.  But what if you struggle with social situations and making new friends?

Mummy Explores the Summer Holidays

Mummy Explores the Summer Holidays

31 July 2018

It is 3pm, the house is quiet and I have a hot cup of coffee beside me.  My daughter is out with her grandad and my son is in his bed having a nap and I have some spare time to write a blog post.  Spare time.  Just typing those words feel forbidden.  Any other time I would be at work, stressing about getting everything done before leaving and stressing about how I was going to cook dinner, clean the house, help with homework, bath the children and get them to bed.  Today, I am at peace.

Avoncroft Museum

Avoncroft Museum

21 July 2018

There are museums for every tiny thing these days, but we recently explored a museum for something pretty big.  The Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings in Bromsgrove, West Midlands is such an important institution in that it rescues historic buildings.

Rodeo in Central Florida

Rodeo in Central Florida

11 July 2018

Sometimes on a Florida holiday you feel that you can’t leave the Theme Parks, but the rodeo is one example of a local event that you really shouldn’t miss.  The rodeos we have been to have been so friendly and welcoming that we just keep going back.
